About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced temporary CDP (Chef de Partie) to join an independent hotel team in Torquay. This is a temporary position paying £15.12 per hour, ideal for a candidate who enjoys varied shifts, working within small high-quality kitchens, and delivering consistently excellent food service.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Temp CDP, you will work alongside the kitchen brigade to maintain high standards throughout service. Your duties will include:

• Preparing, cooking, and plating dishes to the establishment’s specifications and quality standards.

• Running a section efficiently during service and maintaining mise en place.

• Following recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines.

• Supporting colleagues with prep, service, and finishing tasks as required.

• Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and food safety standards in your area.

• Adapting quickly to the hotel’s menu, systems, and team culture.

Role Expectations

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on their station and collaborate positively with the Head Chef and wider team. Key expectations include:

• Deliver consistent quality at speed during busy services.

• Keep accurate stock usage and report shortages to senior kitchen staff.

• Adhere to all health and safety and food hygiene procedures.

• Be punctual, dependable, and professional in all interactions.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role within a hotel, restaurant, or pub kitchen.

• Level 2 Food Hygiene and basic Allergen Awareness (or equivalent).

• Strong practical skills, good knife work, and solid knowledge of cooking techniques.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.

• Good communication and teamwork skills; a positive, can-do attitude.
