We’re recruiting a Temp Sous Chef for a food-led pub in Mold. This is a hands-on role in a busy, community-focused venue known for quality seasonal dishes, proper pub classics, and a friendly atmosphere. The rate is £17.37 per hour (includes holiday pay) on a temporary basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Temp Sous Chef you will support the Head Chef and lead the kitchen during shifts to deliver consistent, high-quality food service. Key duties include:
Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to the pub’s established standards.
Supervising and mentoring junior chefs and kitchen staff during service.
Assisting with stock control, ordering and deliveries as required.
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health & safety and allergen practices.
Ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently during service periods and helping with prep/back-of-house tasks when needed.
Working closely with front-of-house to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Shift Pattern
Typical shifts will include weekend and evening work to cover service periods. Exact hours will be agreed based on business needs and candidate availability.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or senior CDP in a busy pub or restaurant kitchen.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise a small team and work hands-on when required.
Good understanding of stock management, portion control and basic ordering.
Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness (or equivalent) desirable.
Reliable, organised, and able to adapt quickly to a temporary placement.
Positive, team-focused attitude and excellent communication skills.
