About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Temp Sous Chef to join a bustling cafe-bistro near Leatherhead. This temporary role will support the Head Chef and kitchen team to deliver high-quality breakfast, brunch and lunch menus. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining consistency in food quality and presentation, and assisting with kitchen operations during cover periods.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and service delivery
Prepare and cook dishes to menu specification across breakfast, brunch and lunch service
Ensure consistent portion control, presentation and food quality
Assist with mise en place and timely food preparation to meet service demands
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including equipment and storage areas
Follow food hygiene, food safety and allergen procedures at all times
Receive and rotate deliveries, assist with basic stock control and waste management
Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff during shifts and help maintain a cooperative team atmosphere
Skills & Experience
Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Demi Chef de Partie, or experienced chef de partie in a cafe, bistro or similar environment
Strong practical cooking skills with experience of brunch-style and daytime menus
Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety (Level 2 Food Hygiene desirable)
Ability to work under pressure, organise tasks and meet service times
Team-player with clear communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
Flexible and reliable with a proactive approach to covering shifts and supporting the kitchen
