The Role – Head Chef
We are seeking a forward-thinking Head Chef to lead a dynamic kitchen brigade within a busy and diverse hospitality venue in the heart of Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to bring creativity, structure and leadership to a multi-outlet operation including a restaurant, weddings, conferences, golf and bespoke dining experiences.
Working alongside a team of 12 chefs, the Head Chef will be responsible for driving high standards, developing the kitchen team, and delivering exceptional food using fresh, local produce.
Head Chef Responsibilities
Kitchen Management & Operations
Oversee all daily kitchen operations from preparation to service
Maintain consistently high food quality and presentation standards
Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene and HACCP regulations
Manage stock control, ordering and supplier relationships
Control food costs, minimise waste and maximise profit margins
Implement efficient kitchen production and service systems
Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, train, mentor and manage chefs at all levels
Create staff rotas, delegate tasks and monitor performance
Lead by example and foster a positive, professional kitchen culture
Culinary Creativity & Quality
Design and develop seasonal menus, daily specials and event menus
Champion the use of fresh, local and seasonal produce
Ensure dishes are consistently refined, polished and delivered to a high standard
Keep up to date with current food trends and techniques
Financial & Administrative
Manage food costing, menu pricing and kitchen budgets
Maintain accurate records for payroll, attendance and inventory
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a similar environment
Minimum of 5 years’ kitchen experience
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
Excellent culinary knowledge and menu development ability
Sound financial awareness including cost control and stock management
Strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety
Full UK driving licence required
