About the Role
We are recruiting a Temporary CDP to work at an independent school in Milton Keynes. This temporary role offers £15.68 per hour with immediate start availability. The successful candidate will prepare and cook nutritious, well-presented meals for pupils and staff, support service periods, and help maintain the smooth running of the kitchen.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Temporary Chef de Partie you will work to established menus and portion standards to deliver consistent, high-quality meals while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards. Typical duties include:

Preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for breakfast, lunch, and occasional evening service when required.

Following set menus, recipes, and dietary requirements, including allergen-safe and special-diet meals.

Assisting with stock rotation, basic ordering, and inventory checks to minimise waste and control costs.

Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and storage in line with hygiene schedules and school policies.

Completing food temperature, cleaning, and fridge/freezer logs accurately and promptly.

Working collaboratively with the catering team, school staff, and supervisors to meet pupil needs and preferences.

Assisting with pot washing and general kitchen duties as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver consistent cooking and plating across service periods to the required standards.

Adhere to food safety, health & safety, and allergen management procedures at all times.

Support stock management and report shortages or discrepancies to the supervising chef or manager.

Support and mentor temporary or bank colleagues where needed to ensure smooth service.

Ensure documentation (temperatures, cleaning checklists, delivery records) is kept up to date and accurate.
About You
-
Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role within schools, care, contract catering, or hospitality settings.

Level2 Food Hygiene and allergen awareness (or willingness to obtain) is required.

Reliable, adaptable, and able to follow set menus and standards with attention to detail.

Good communication and teamwork skills with a calm, professional approach when working with pupils and staff.

Flexible availability to meet the needs of the school, including early starts and occasional split shifts.

DBS check desirable; willingness to undergo checks as part of employment and safeguarding requirements.
