About the Role

We are seeking an organised and proactive Temp Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at a busy fresh food pub in Hook. This temporary position offers the opportunity to step into a leadership role, supporting the Head Chef to deliver consistently high standards across all services.

The role is ideal for someone experienced in fresh food operations who can manage service pressure, maintain food quality, and support training and supervision of the brigade. You will help ensure smooth kitchen operations across food preparation, service, and closing duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and delivering menu items to the pub’s standards

• Supervise and support kitchen staff during service, ensuring food quality and presentation

• Cover the Head Chef when required and lead the team during shifts

• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness

• Monitor stock levels, assist with deliveries, and minimise waste

• Follow health and safety procedures and ensure team compliance

• Contribute to a positive, collaborative working environment

About You

• Previous experience working in a Sous Chef or senior cook role within fresh food-led kitchens

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to lead a small team under pressure

• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (Level2 or equivalent desirable)

• Flexible and reliable with a positive, can-do attitude

• Ability to work varied shift patterns including weekends and evenings

• Full driving licence preferred as location may be easier to reach by car
