The Venue
Join one of the Chilterns’ most loved independent Country Inns, set within a beautiful countryside. A long-standing local favourite, the venue is renowned for its warm hospitality, intimate atmosphere, and consistently excellent food particularly its celebrated steak & ale pie, Sunday lunches, and unique rural setting.
They're now looking for a talented Sous Chef to help build on this reputation and take the food offering into its next chapter.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in developing and delivering a modern yet classic pub food menu, with a strong focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients from trusted small producers.

Key Responsibilities
Menu Development: Assist in creating, testing, and delivering seasonal, high-quality menus.
Kitchen Leadership: Train, motivate, and support junior chefs to maintain consistency and standards.
Daily Operations: Oversee service, stock control, ordering, and food safety compliance.
Quality Control: Ensure every dish meets expectations for flavour, presentation, and consistency.
Team Culture: Promote a calm, positive, and professional working environment.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie background in a quality-led restaurant or gastropub.
Skillset: Strong technical ability, creativity, and adaptability.
Leadership: Confident mentoring others and leading by example.
Attitude: Proactive, solutions-focused, and calm under pressure.
Passion: A genuine love of food and a desire to help shape an exciting future for the kitchen.
