School Head Chef Role – Fresh Food, Leadership & Community

Are you an experienced chef with a proven track record in managing school kitchens or contract catering operations? We’re seeking a passionate and reliable Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a prominent independent school in Huddersfield.

You’ll inspire the team, delight students and staff with nutritious fresh dishes, and take pride in helping to create a positive environment that supports learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities – School Catering Head Chef

• Lead the day-to-day kitchen operation in accordance with school food standards

• Deliver exciting, healthy, and seasonal menus for pupils, staff, and visitors

• Inspire, supervise, and develop the kitchen team to achieve excellence

• Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, food safety, and allergen management

• Monitor food production, stock control, and minimize food waste

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and safety regulations

• Support special events, functions, and parents’ evenings as required

• Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive kitchen culture

Experience & Skills – Temp Head Chef, Huddersfield School

• Previous experience as a chef manager, head chef, or senior sous in high-volume catering – school, education, B&I, or contract catering experience desirable

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• A genuine commitment to serving nutritious food and supporting young people’s health

• Keen attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness

• Valid Food Hygiene and Allergen Certificates (Level2+ preferred; training can be provided)

• Immediate availability and enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
