Main Responsibilities as Temp Sous Chef | Care Home | Denbigh
- Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team and daily food production.
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of nutritious, balanced dishes to suit dietary requirements, including allergens and modified texture diets.
- Maintain strict food hygiene, health, and safety policies in line with care home and statutory regulations.
- Assist with menu planning, stock ordering, and efficient kitchen organization.
- Supervise junior kitchen staff and promote a positive, inclusive working environment.
- Deliver high standards of service and contribute to the positive dining experience of residents and guests.
- Ensure storage, labeling, and allergen management procedures are followed accurately at all times.
Key Requirements – Temp Sous Chef Experience & Qualifications
- At least two years’ experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie, preferably in care homes, healthcare, or high-volume settings.
- Current Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness certification (mandatory).
- Knowledge of modified diets and nutritional needs for older adults is highly desirable.
- Proactive, adaptable, and professional attitude with a genuine passion for creating great food for all ages and needs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team working skills.
- An enhanced DBS check is preferred; willingness to obtain one is essential.
