Key Responsibilities in Our Solihull Nursery Chef Role
- Menu Planning & Preparation: Create, prepare, and serve nutritionally balanced meals tailored to children’s dietary needs and preferences
- Quality & Presentation: Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard, following our food and nutrition policy
- Kitchen Administration: Oversee food orders, stock control, and budget management
- Food Safety: Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards at all times, adhering to Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety requirements
- Allergen & Dietary Management: Cater for allergies, intolerances, and special diets in accordance with best practices
- Positive Teamwork: Build strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and children, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment
What We’re Looking For

- At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience (hospitality, catering, school, or nursery setting)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate
- Confident in planning menus and adapting recipes for dietary requirements
- Organized, enthusiastic, and proactive with a warm, friendly approach
- Committed to upholding high standards of cleanliness and food safety
Desirable Skills for Nursery Kitchen Jobs
- Experience working in a childcare, nursery, or school kitchen
- Allergen management or HACCP qualification
- Experience maintaining a 5-star hygiene rating
- Culinary or catering NVQ or similar
- A genuine love for cooking and helping children discover healthy foods
