Chef – Independent Neighbourhood Kitchen | Claygate

Location: Claygate, Surrey
Type: Full-time shift pattern; typical week includes days, some evenings and alternate weekends.

Our client, a popular neighbourhood eatery in the heart of Claygate, is seeking a capable and self-reliant Chef to take charge of their compact kitchen and maintain the quality and standards their guests have come to love.

What You’ll Do

• Run the kitchen independently during service, preparing and cooking a fresh, seasonal menu to consistently high standards.
• Manage stock, including ordering, rotation, and minimising waste.
• Take care of kitchen equipment, scheduling routine checks and arranging repairs when needed.
• Maintain excellent food safety and cleanliness, completing daily and weekly records.
• Support the Front of House team during busy periods — whether that’s making hot drinks or lending a hand to keep service running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

• Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate (essential)
• Solid experience in a similar chef role, with the confidence to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and a calm, professional attitude under pressure.
• A genuine passion for great, fuss-free food and friendly customer interaction.
• Fluent English and full right to work in the UK.
