Key Responsibilities – Head Chef Role in Nursing Home Catering

• Oversee the planning, preparation, and service of well-balanced, appetizing meals for nursing home residents, catering to dietary needs and preferences.
• Lead, support, and motivate the kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen regulations throughout the kitchen.
• Manage kitchen ordering, stock rotation, and inventory to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
• Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety at all times.
• Work collaboratively with nursing home management and care teams to deliver an outstanding dining experience.
• Adapt menus and approach as needed to support residents' wellbeing and special diets.

What We’re Looking For – Temp Head Chef Requirements & Skills

• Proven experience as a chef, lead cook, or head chef – ideally in a care home, healthcare, or contract catering environment.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety certificate (essential).
• Demonstrated ability to lead kitchen teams and work independently.
• Good understanding of allergens, nutrition, and modified diets relevant to senior care.
• Organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
• Current DBS certificate (Update Service registered or issued within the last 12 months, essential).
• Two professional references from recent roles.
• Professional, adaptable, and caring approach in all aspects of your work.
