Key Responsibilities – Head Cook in Care Home Environment

• Lead, inspire, and motivate the kitchen team to deliver enjoyable, nutritious meals tailored for residents’ needs
• Develop and implement menus that support a variety of dietary requirements, including nutritional and cultural preferences
• Supervise all aspects of meal preparation, cooking, food service, and kitchen cleanliness
• Ensure compliance with current food hygiene, allergen management, and HACCP regulations
• Champion a resident-centered approach, prioritizing dignity, choice, and individual preferences
• Handle ordering, stock control, and minimization of food waste with efficiency
• Foster a positive team culture through clear communication and supportive leadership

Who We’re Looking For – Temp Head Cook, Yelverton Care Home

• Previous experience as a Head Cook, Head Chef, or Kitchen Lead—preferably within care, healthcare, or education environments
• Strong understanding of nutritional needs for older adults or those in a care setting
• Excellent knowledge of food hygiene, allergen control, and kitchen management standards
• Empathy, trustworthiness, and a genuine commitment to resident-focused hospitality
• Effective leadership, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to start quickly and eligibility to work in the UK
