About the Role – Sous Chef Responsibilities in a Watford Gastro Pub

• Support the Head Chef in the smooth, efficient running of the gastropub kitchen, covering all key service periods.
• Prepare, cook, and present modern British pub dishes and specials to consistently high standards.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team, stepping up in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Maintain strict food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety procedures in accordance with food industry regulations.
• Assist with menu planning, stock control, and supplier management.
• Train and support junior chefs to build a positive, productive kitchen environment.
• Minimize food waste through effective prep and stock rotation.

Ideal Candidate Profile – Gastro Pub Temp Sous Chef (Watford)

• Strong experience working as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or above in pub, restaurant, or hotel kitchens.
• Confident working under pressure and leading shifts in a busy gastropub environment.
• Sound knowledge of contemporary British cuisine and seasonal ingredients.
• Solid understanding of food safety, health and safety, and allergen compliance in a UK hospitality context.
• Reliable, punctual, adaptable, and a team player with great communication skills.
• Immediate availability for temporary work. Right to work in the UK is essential.
