Chefs for Chefs are proud to be working with an exceptional Michelin-starred restaurant based in the Carlisle area. We’re searching for a talented Sous Chef to join their small, dedicated team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high-level kitchen that focuses on seasonally driven menus, utilising produce grown on-site in their own walled garden. The team work a 4-day week, recognising the importance of balance and wellbeing. Alongside a strong salary, the business also offers a comprehensive healthcare package and paid overtime.
The Role:
As Sous Chef, you’ll support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen, contributing to menu development, mentoring junior chefs, and maintaining the restaurant’s consistently high standards. You’ll be a hands-on team player with strong experience in high-end kitchens, confident across all sections, and able to step up in the Head Chef’s absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day support of the Head Chef and kitchen operations
Input into menu ideas and development of new seasonal dishes
Work closely with the garden team to plan and use produce efficiently
Train and guide junior team members, maintaining the restaurant’s ethos and standards
Oversee service and operations when the Head Chef is away
About You:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef within a Michelin-starred or 3 AA Rosette setting
Excellent knowledge of seasonal ingredients and garden-led cooking
Skilled across all areas of the kitchen
Confident in managing service and supporting a small team
Passionate about delivering high-quality food consistently
Package:
Salary from £36,000 – £40,000 per year

28 days holiday (inclusive of annual closures)
4-day working week
